Pictures and Description of my 2G - 1G Head Swap |

I had almost everything connected, but when I tried to put the 1st gen lower radiator
hose in, it was rubbing against the weight arm. You can see in this picture how it is
pointing at the weight.

In this picture I am cutting the weight off the shifter. I pulled out the neumatic
grinder, and put a metal cutting disc in it.

I first cut off the weight.

Second I cut off the rest of the weight. You can see the pin that holds it
in place.

Next I cut off the rest of the stud.

No more weight. I will let everyone know if it shifts better or faster like
people say it should.
UPDATE: I have driven the car with the weight removed. I notice that the shifter
feels lighter. I also notice a better feeling of the transmition through the shifter.
I have yet to try to speed shift or power shift the car.

Putting the fluids back in.Getting it ready to start.
Well, it didn't start on the first try. It took me a while to figure out what
the problem was. It turned out that the Cam Angle Sensor was in wrong and it
was trying to fire at the wrong time. I got that corrected and the car fired right
up.

I thought I was finished and ready to go, but that would have been too easy. Once
I got it started I noticed that both fans started to run. I also got a Check Engine Light
I hooked up the scan tool and I got a Thermostat Error. This told me that the 1st Gen
Temp Probe was not compatable with my 2nd Gen. I figured a it would be easy to just swap
the two...

Guess Again... When putting in my 2nd Gen Temp Probe, I over tightened the Probe and
cracked the upper thermostat housing. I tried to seal the crack, just so I could drive
the car around the block but it would not hold. This is when I noticed the Engine Block
plug was leaking.

Here is how I first connected the 1G throttle body. I have since changed it because I was
getting a CEL (EGR malfunction). I switched the hoses, and still got the CEL. I think now
that it might be my MAP block, and will try something different this weekend.
